Hampshire Wedding Photography – Froyle Park, Alton

We always do a little happy dance when we are asked to work at venues as stunning as the gorgeous Froyle Park in Alton!  It really is a pleasure to be able to photograph such beautiful surroundings.

Taz & Julie had the perfect winter conditions for their January wedding day – it was crisp and cold to start with, but then turned into a beautiful sunny day with an amazing blue sky to boot!  Great conditions for the photographs and an even better day than they had dared to hope for with the famous British weather to contend with!

Julie started her day in style as she was getting ready at Froyle Park itself.  The elegant surroundings and tranquil setting really seemed to keep the atmosphere very calm during the preparations.

There were some really thoughtful touches that Julie had arranged for her and the girls – Julie, her mum and the bridesmaids all had gorgeous custom-made silk dressing gowns and even personalised hangers for their dresses!

Soon it was off to All Saints Church in the beautiful village of Crondall.  It was good to catch up with the lovely Reverend Tara Hellings who always brings such a vibrant energy and enthusiasm to the services she conducts.  The service was beautiful, accompanied by the wonderful professional harpist to add to the romantic ambience!

Taz & Julie left the church to a flurry of confetti down the ancient church path and then it was off for more photography at Froyle Park.

Froyle Park is adorned with beautiful backdrops and settings everywhere you look.  From the immaculate lawns at the front of the house to the outdoor dome and far-reaching views over the rolling Hampshire countryside, this venue really is a photographer’s dream!

After some romantic couple photographs using the best of the surroundings and some important family groups that Julie and Taz were keen to record, we captured the rest of the day in an informal, documentary style which is our favourite way to work.

Soon it was time for the delicious wedding breakfast in Froyle Park’s Grand Ballroom which is a stunning space with beautiful natural light complimenting the ornate panelling detail.

As the evening celebrations were about to begin, an extra special touch that the couple had planned was revealed – Julie had stunning stilettos for the ceremony and main part of the day, but at this point Taz led her onto the dancefloor and swapped her heels for some amazing personalised Converse for the evening reception!  All in all a wonderful day with a lovely couple.

Hampshire Wedding Photography – Old Thorns, Liphook

Scroll down for a selection of the photos!

It was a beautiful sunny April day for John and Rachel’s wedding at the stunning Old Thorns Golf Country Estate in Liphook, Hampshire.  Old Thorns is one of our favourite wedding venues and one which we visit most often (usually around 8-10 times per year).

Rachel was getting ready in the Surrey Apartment – a gorgeous, spacious part of Old Thorns’ accommodation with the main room flooded with natural light through the floor-to-ceiling windows.  It’s almost always a lovely atmosphere capturing the bridal preparation photographs – the sense of excitement and anticipation as the big moment draws closer!  John was also getting ready at Old Thorns so while Elaine stayed with Rachel, her bridesmaids, mum and flower girl, I set off to find the boys and capture some images of their preparations.  Admittedly, the groom’s preparations are usually over much more quickly than the bride’s… but they’re no less important!

The wedding ceremony took place in the Hampshire Suite with windows running the length of the room, overlooking the grounds.  After a very emotional ceremony, John and Rachel made their way out to the courtyard and were met with flurries of confetti plus celebratory glasses of bubbly!

As wedding photographers in Hampshire, we really are spoilt by the abundance of photo opportunities at Old Thorns.  Luckily, John and Rachel were keen to really make the most of this great venue and to capture lots of romantic moments together.  After some shots on the Old Thorns regal thrones and in the sun terrace area, we hopped aboard the trusty golf buggy and made our way up to the top tee for some photos with the signature view that makes Old Thorns so memorable.

Despite their desire to spend time capturing romantic couple photographs, John and Rachel had insightfully built in extra time to their wedding day plans to also allow time for them to mingle with their guests and enjoy the reception drinks and canapés.  This also enabled us to really go to town on the candid, reportage photography.  This is our favourite atmosphere to work in – capturing natural, unposed and spontaneous photographs of people really enjoying the occasion and completely without any of the inhibitions and reserve that can sometimes crop up when photographs are staged.  After a few important family shots that John and Rachel had requested in one of our pre-wedding meetings, it was then back into the Hampshire Suite for the wonderful wedding breakfast.

The speeches were a hoot – John’s two best men really did him proud with the perfect combination of sentimentality and hilarious stories (without embarrassing him too much!) and then it was time to indulge those guests with a sweet tooth as the wedding cake was cut and also the deliciously decadent chocolate fountain was set up!  John and Rachel’s first dance was beautifully romantic and heartfelt but soon afterwards the dancefloor was overrun by their lovely guests keen to party the night away! Congratulations John and Rachel… and thank you for including us in your special day.
